All RCCD student loaner laptops and all RCCD Lab computers have Respondus LockDown Browser already installed on the devices.

All RCCD student loaner laptops and all RCCD Lab computers have Respondus LockDown Browser already installed on the devices.
IMPORTANT: If you have other applications open when trying to access Respondus LockDown Browser, you may be prompted to close those applications before Respondus LockDown Browser can be loaded.
1. Select the "Windows/Start" button on the taskbar or press the "Windows/Start key on the laptop keyboard:
2. Select the "All apps" dropdown box on the upper right corner of the screen:
3. Select LockDown Browser 2 Lab and Respondus LockDown Browser will load. You will be then prompted to use your RCCD Single Sign On (SSO) information to access/log in to Canvas.
For Personal Computers/Devices:
Before installing Respondus LockDown Browser on your computer, please ensure that the device meets the system requirements to install and use the software by reading the information in the following link:

Windows computer
- Log in as a local administrator with full rights. ( (Windows-Control Panel-User Accounts-"user account"-"Change your account type"-"Administrator").
- Go to "https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=286313474"
- Download the LockDown Browser installer package. It will be in the form of "LockDownBrowser-2-0-x-xx.exe" where "-x-xx" is the current version number.
- Locate the installer package in your Downloads folder and run it.
- Accept all the default prompts to install LockDown Browser.
- Most Learning Management Systems require that you first open a standard browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) log in to the LMS, and then use the "Launch LockDown Browser" button on the quiz summary page.
For Canvas "Classic" quizzes and Blackboard Learn quizzes, go to your desktop and double click on the "LockDown Browser" icon (A blue diamond with a gold padlock) to start LockDown Browser.
Mac computer
- Log in as a local administrator with full rights (In System Preferences-Users & Groups, the user account must have "Allow user to administer this computer" enabled.)
- Go to "https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=286313474"
- Download the LockDown Browser installer package. Depending on the browser setting, it may download as "InstallLDBPackage64c-2-0-x-xx.zip" where "-x-xx" is the current version number.
- If the downloaded file did not automatically unzip, locate "InstallLDBPackage64c-2-0-x-xx.zip" (usually in the Downloads folder), and double click on the file to start the Archiver to unzip the file.
- Locate the "Install Respondus LockDown Browser xxxxxxxxx.pkg" to start the actual LockDown Browser installer. (The "xxxxxxxxx" should be the actual Institution ID.)
- Accept all the default prompts to install LockDown Browser.

For Canvas "Classic" quizzes and Blackboard Learn quizzes, go to Finder-Applications and double click on the "LockDown Browser" icon (a world globe with padlock) to start LockDown Browser.
