How to Create/Map or connect to a Network Shared Drive/Folder

Body

Creating a shortcut or mapping to a Network Shared Drive/Folder is something most users can accomplish on their own.

First, you'll need to determine the full network path and folder name of the Shared Drive.

To locate full network path and folder name of the shared drive, please do the following:

1. Find a user who already has access to the shared drive/folder

2. Simply right-click on the shortcut folder on their desktop

3. Go to properties and copy the information listed under “Target” in the Shortcut tab (as shown below)

4. On your computer's desktop, right-click on the empty area of the desktop and select "New" and then select "Shortcut"

5. Enter the full network path (previously saved) in the location field and click next.  Insert a name for the Share and then select Finish.

6.  To map a Windows Drive letter to the network share, right click on the newly created Shared Folder shortcut on the desktop and select "Map Network Drive" and then select the drive letter you'd like to assign to the share.
